First Time Home Buyer Information

First Time Home Buyer: Buyer has not owned a principal residence in the last 36 months.*

*Documentation required of all first time home buyers: Three prior years Federal tax returns, signed and dated currently in blue ink, and show that no deductions were taken as a homeowner.

Mortgage Credit Certificates: Mortgage Credit Certificates (MCCs) provide first time home buyers tax credits equal to 20% of the interest paid on the home.  This program is available for low and moderate income households.  The potential home buyer is required to select a lender from a list of participating lenders. 

CalHFA: The California Housing Finance Agency offers below market interest rate first mortgage programs and a variety of down payment assistance programs to eligible first time home buyers. For more information: http://www.calhfa.com (MCCs and CalHFA cannot be combined.)
